Csat strategy
In every attempt of prelims i scored above 80 marks in Csat that helped me to clear csat with ease. I'll be sharing my approach here.
1. However difficult the paper would be, I would be targeting to attempt more than 55 plus questions. So I always keep in mind not to score above 66 marks but to attempt 55 plus questions which automatically reflect in score.
2. There are three types of questions in csat as per me. One is reading comprehension and the other two are reasoning and aptitude.
3. Reading comprehension consists of around 27 questions and in my first 40 mins I'll attempt all those 27 questions. You can afford to take an extra 5 minutes to solve it because those are very crucial to increase my attempt to 55 plus questions overall.
4. Reasoning questions would consist of around 20 odd questions. And I'll try to maximise my attempt in solving around 10 questions in that section. For example if I attempt 10 questions from reasoning my total number of attempts ranges to 37 now.
5. Then I shift my third priority to aptitude questions. As every aspirant doesn't have the ability to solve tough aptitude questions, therefore I would identify easy questions from aptitude to target my attempt to 55 plus questions.
6. Some of the easy and doable topics from the aptitude section are - Average, Profit and Loss, Simple interest, Mensuration, Age related, Percentage, Speed and Distance etc..
While from reasoning are - Clock, Calendar, Direction, sitting arrangement, Graphs, Syllogism, Coding & Decoding etc..
7. Medium level topics include - River and boat, Compound interest, LCM and HCF, Series and sequence, cubes and dices, Ranking etc..
8. While difficult topics as per me are Number System ,Probability, Permutations & Combinations , Mixture & Proportions, Inequalities, Time and Work etc... Here if I am unable to solve then better to leave and jump to the next question.
9. In order to speed up calculations, better to memorise formulas before hand from any coaching institutes book and Vedic mathematics formulae.
10. Sometimes reading comprehension questions becomes very easy in a way that without reading passage it is comfortable to arrive at the answer. It mainly works in GS type passages.
11. Attempt csat questions from 2011 to 2024 which are irreplaceable source and any test series along with that.
12. And at last if I solve 55 questions with 40 correct and 15 wrong then my score would be 87.
Finally try to at least go through all 80 questions in paper to identify easy and medium level questions. Because if you leave the last 20 questions per say, there can be a chance of having 10 easy from that. Hence the trick to sail through csat lies in identifying the questions you are able to solve quickly as fast as possible.
