Govt responds to reports of testing use of ethanol in cooking fuel in India
Petroleum Ministry told the Parliament on Monday that the LPG Equipment Research Centre, a joint undertaking of IOCL, HPCL and BPCL, is testing the benefits of using ethanol as a cooking fuel in Indian households. The centre is undertaking "development efforts towards clean cooking alternatives based on ethanol", it said. Ethanol-blended cooking fuel may serve as biofuel alternative, it added.

Unusual ozone layer detected over Bay of Bengal
Scientists have detected an unusually high concentration of ozone in upper atmosphere over North Bay of Bengal, helping researchers better understand how air currents transport ozone through stratosphere.
