Haryana sees 38% reduction in crimes against women in 1 year

The cases of crimes against women in Haryana dropped from 13,945 in 2024 to 8,723 in 2025. "Historic 38% decline recorded in crimes against women," Haryana Police said, adding that the average emergency response time in February 2026 stood at just nine minutes and 32 seconds. "Women's safety, respect, and empowerment are our topmost priorities," DGP Ajay Singhal said.

Higher fixed charges in electricity bills proposed by CEA

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has proposed phased hike in fixed monthly electricity charges to help discoms recover grid and infrastructure costs. Fixed charges for domestic and farm consumers may rise to 25% of fixed costs by 2030, while industrial, commercial and institutional users could pay up to 100%. The move comes amid rising rooftop solar and captive power use.

TCS CEO Krithivasan earned 333 times the median employee salary in FY26

K Krithivasan, the CEO and MD of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), earned ₹28.1 crore in salary for FY26, up 6.3% year-on-year. Krithivasan's annual remuneration, which includes ₹25 crore in commission, is 332.8 times the median salary of TCS employees. The major salary hike comes in a year when TCS reduced its total employee headcount by over 23,000.

CBSE reduces re-evaluation fee for Class 12 Board results, to give full refund if marks increase

Amid complaints against On-Screen Marking system after Class 12 Board results, CBSE has announced reduction in fees for post-result services. "We'll charge ₹100 for students to view their answer sheets, ₹100 for validation, and ₹25 per question for re-evaluation...We'll offer a refund if marks are increased," it stated. Earlier, ₹700 per subject was charged for scanned copies of evaluated sheets.

Ukraine launches massive drone attack on Russia's capital

Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on Russian regions, including capital Moscow, Russian authorities said on Sunday. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defences destroyed 81 drones headed for Moscow, making it the largest attack on the capital in over a year.
