33 people die as powerful storm, heavy rain lash parts of UP

At least 33 people were killed after a powerful storm and heavy rainfall lashed multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. At least 16 deaths were recorded in Bhadohi, nine in Fatehpur, five in Budaun, two in Chandauli, and one in Sonbhadra district. CM Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to provide compensation and relief to the affected people and families.

Among Indian states and UTs, Goa consumes the most petrol per person, with 52.4 litres per 100 people daily in 2024-25, far above the national average of 10.4 litres. Puducherry ranks second at 41 litres, followed by Chandigarh at 37.8 litres. Bihar records the lowest per capita petrol consumption at 3.3 litres, followed by West Bengal at 5.1 litres.
