Rupee falls to new all-time low, nears 96-mark against US dollar

The Indian rupee fell to a new lifetime low of 95.8 against the US dollar on Wednesday, nearing the 96-mark. This comes days after PM Narendra Modi urged Indians to cut fuel consumption and stop purchasing gold for a year to help strengthen the Indian rupee. The currency had hit a low of ₹95.17 on Monday.

Gold imports from Dubai may rise after 15% duty hike: GTRI

The Global Trade Research Initiative said gold and silver imports from Dubai could rise through the free trade agreement route after the government increased import duty on precious metals to 15%. India allows gold imports from the UAE at tariffs one percentage point lower than the Most-Favoured-Nation rate. The concessional tariff on silver imports from the UAE stands at 7%.

Severe heatwave likely across Maha over next 2 days, IMD issues alerts

False & baseless: Nepal on reports of new curbs on Indian tourists

Nepal dismissed reports claiming new restrictions on Indian tourists travelling to the country as "false and baseless". It also denied reports of mandatory ID cards for Indians crossing the border and rejected claims of a 30-day stay limit. Air India cuts loss-making flights amid high jet fuel prices, releases list

Air India is suspending multiple flights on international routes that aren't commercially viable anymore due to record high fuel prices. Delhi-Chicago, Delhi-Shanghai, Chennai-Singapore, Mumbai-Dhaka and Delhi-Malé flights have been suspended till August. Delhi-Toronto flights have been reduced from 10x weekly to 5x weekly till July, while Delhi-Paris flights have been reduced from 14x to 7x.

Gold bond investors get 382% return as RBI announces redemption price

RBI has announced the premature redemption price for Sovereign Gold Bonds 2018-19 Series III, issued on November 13, 2018. The redemption price has been set at ₹15,102 per unit, yielding a 382% return over the issue price of ₹3,133 for online subscribers. China changes Marco Rubio's Chinese spelling to let him enter despite ban

Government bans export of sugar

The government has banned the export of sugar from India amid domestic supply concerns. The order prohibits the export till September 30 and applies to raw, white and refined sugar, while allowing exports to the EU and US under CXL and TRQ quotas.
