RBI raises inflation forecast for Q1 FY27 to 4%

RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra on Friday announced the central bank's raised CPI inflation forecast for Q1 and Q2 FY27 at 4% and 4.2%, respectively. The slight upward revision in inflation outlook was mainly due to the rise in prices of precious metals, Malhotra said. Excluding precious metals, the underlying inflation pressures remain muted, he added.

J&K leads northern states in per capita income growth since 2019

Jammu and Kashmir's per capita income grew at a compound annual growth rate of 8.81% between April 2019 and March 2025, according to the J&K government’s Economic Survey 2025-26. This was higher than that of Himachal (6.54%), Delhi (6.74%), and Punjab (7.46%), the Economic Survey, tabled in the Assembly on Thursday said. Notably, Article 370 was also abrogated in 2019.

RBI announces upward revision in real GDP growth estimates for FY27

RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra announced an upward revision in India's real GDP growth projections for the first half of FY27. Projection for Q1 has been revised to 6.9%, up from 6.7% projected in December 2025, and for Q2, it has been revised from 6.8% to 7%. RBI proposes doubling collateral-free MSME loan limit to ₹20 lakh

US conducts 'lethal' strike on alleged drug boat, 2 killed
