Trump announces 30% tariffs on EU & Mexico

US President Donald Trump has announced that goods imported from the European Union (EU) and Mexico will face 30% tariffs from August 1. In his letters to EU and Mexico, Trump warned that if they raise their tariffs in retaliation, then whatever number they choose will be added to US' 30% tariffs. Earlier, Trump had announced tariffs on seven nations.

Russian woman with expired visa found living with 2 daughters in cave in Karnataka

A 40-year-old Russian woman, Nina Kutina alias Mohi, was rescued from a remote cave in Ramatirtha hills in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. Mohi was accompanied by her two daughters, aged 6 and 4, and police said she was drawn to spirituality. She had kept a Rudra idol inside the cave. Her business visa had expired in 2017.

Air India reacts to AAIB report on plane crash, says 'it's not the last word'

Air India on Saturday reacted to the preliminary report released by Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on June plane crash that killed around 260 people. "This (the report) is not the last word, but an important step in identifying factors," said Air India Senior VP for flight operations Manish Uppal. He said Air India will review the report with pilots.

Kasab case prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, 3 others nominated to Rajya Sabha

Australian man posts job opening for butcher, says 'Got 140 applications, all from India, Pak'

Clayton Wright, owner of butcher and meat companies, said despite spending ₹62,000 on advertising a job opening for a butcher in Sydney, he failed to hire anyone. "We've had 140 applications and not one was from Australia. They were from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan," Wright said. Applicants "had virtually no qualifications at all" and were "battling to speak English", he added.

Who is Harsh Shringla, the President's nominee to Rajya Sabha?

Harsh Shringla, former Foreign Secretary and seasoned diplomat, has been nominated to Rajya Sabha by the President. A 1984-batch IFS officer, he served as Ambassador to the US, Thailand, and High Commissioner to Bangladesh, before serving as 33rd Foreign Secretary. Sneha Debnath, a 19-year-old girl from Tripura's Sabroom, reportedly went missing in Delhi, prompting intervention from Tripura CM Manik Saha. "Necessary instructions have been promptly issued to the police to take immediate and appropriate action," Tripura CMO wrote. Bihar survey finds many voters from Nepal, B'desh, Myanmar: Report

Door-to-door survey conducted by Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar's voter lists has found that many people from Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar are currently living in the state, said reports quoting poll body sources. 8 trains cancelled after goods train catches fire in Tamil Nadu

The Southern Railways has cancelled eight trains after a fire broke out in a goods train near Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur. The cancelled trains include Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express, Chennai-Mysuru Shatabdi Express, Chennai-Bengaluru double-decker Express, and Chennai-Tirupati Saptagiri Express. Mob drags 19-yr-old from police station, kills him for sexually assaulting Arunachal school girls

Curfew was imposed in Arunachal Pradesh's Roing amid tensions after Riaz-Ul Kurim, a 19-year-old migrant youth, was lynched by a mob for allegedly sexually assaulting school girls, police said. Delhi Police on Sunday released a photo of the accused driver, Utsav Shekhar, who ran his Audi car over five people sleeping on footpath in Delhi's Vasant Vihar on July 9. Agra FSDA drains 5000 litres of milk as 2 kids die of adulteration

A Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) team intercepted a milk tanker in Agra's Arnota Village and drained 5000 litres of adulterated milk worth ₹1.25 lakh. Their action followed the alleged deaths of two children after consuming the milk.
