Indian Railways announces fare hike

The Indian Railways on Monday issued a circular announcing a hike in fares from July 1. Non-AC classes in mail and express trains will cost 1 paisa more per km, while all AC classes will rise by 2 paise per km. Passengers in ordinary sleeper and first class will pay an additional half paisa per km.

Vietnam Airlines plane collides with parked aircraft at Hanoi Airport, slices its tail

A Vietnam Airlines plane collided with a parked aircraft from its own fleet on the tarmac of Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport. The plane sliced through the parked aircraft's tail, leaving a large tear on it. Both planes were taken out of service following the incident. Further, four pilots have been suspended.

India-US trade deal talks have stalled over the former's resistance to US demands for greater access to its agriculture, dairy, and genetically modified (GM) crop markets, a report stated. If the US continues to press for these concessions, ongoing negotiations for a mini trade deal may collapse. Indian exports could face a 26% reciprocal tariff from US if negotiations fail.

How have fares for ordinary passenger trains been revised?

As per Railways' new fare structure, there will be no increase in price of Second Class tickets in ordinary passenger trains up to 500 km. Beyond that, these tickets will cost half paisa more/km, meaning hikes of ₹5 for 501-1500 km, ₹10 for 1501-2500 km, and ₹15 for 2501-3000 km. Sleeper and First Class fares will rise by half paisa/km.

Commercial LPG cylinder prices slashed by ₹58.50 across India

Oil marketing companies have reduced the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by nearly ₹58.50, effective July 1. The price for a commercial LPG cylinder will now be ₹1,665 in Delhi, ₹1,769 in Kolkata, ₹1,616 in Mumbai and ₹1,823.50 in Chennai. In June, the prices were reduced by ₹24. Meanwhile, the price of domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged.

YouTuber Kanika Devrani alleged she was drugged and robbed by a man while travelling from Delhi-Assam in second AC coach on Brahmaputra Mail. Death toll rises to 34 in chemical factory blast near Hyderabad

Death toll in the blast that occurred at a chemical factory near Hyderabad has risen to 34, as more dead bodies were recovered from the site on Tuesday morning. The blast took place on Monday, at Sigachi Chemicals, a pharmaceutical unit, in Pashamylaram industrial estate in Sangareddy. The explosion blew up the industrial shed completely, said a worker.

A heatwave covered much of Europe on Monday, with heat warnings issued for Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany and the UK. Record-breaking temperatures were recorded, with Spain hitting 46°C and Portugal recording 46.6°C in Mora, both setting new June records. Oil edges down on expectations of more OPEC+ supply, tariff fears

Oil prices edged down on Tuesday, weighed by expectations of an OPEC+ output hike in August and concerns of an economic slowdown driven by prospects of higher US tariffs.
