Jaishankar meets Dutch Defence & Foreign Ministers in Netherlands

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar met the Netherlands' Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans and Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp in The Hague on Monday. "Exchanged views on our respective security perspectives and challenges," Jaishankar said on his meeting with Brekelmans. Bangladesh gets Starlink

Elon Musk-led SpaceX's Starlink internet is now available in Bangladesh, the tech billionaire announced on X. Starlink satellites transmit internet signals directly to users' ground terminals, connected to routers. Monthly packages start at 4,200 taka ($35) for the service now available nationwide, with a one-time payment of 47,000 taka required for setup equipment.

3-year practice as lawyer mandatory to join judicial service: SC

The Supreme Court ruled that a candidate should've at least three years of practice as a lawyer to enter judicial service. "State governments shall amend rules to ensure...any candidate appearing for civil judges (junior division) exam shall have...minimum practice of three years," it said. The appointment of fresh law graduates as judges led to a lot of problems, it added.

A joint team of Indian and Nepali Army successfully summited Mount Kanchenjunga on Monday, the organisers said. HC issues notice to Tharoor on Chandrasekhar's defamation plea

Padma Vibhushan awardee astrophysicist Jayant Narlikar passes away

Astrophysicist Jayant Vishnu Narlikar passed away in Pune on Tuesday aged 87. The last rites of Narlikar, who is survived by his three daughters, are likely to be performed on Wednesday. Narlikar was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1965 at the age of 26. He received Padma Vibhushan in 2004 and in 2011, Maharashtra government conferred on him Maharashtra Bhushan.

124 countries vote in favour of global pandemic deal

World Health Organization (WHO) members voted in favour of a global treaty on improving pandemic preparedness at the World Health Assembly on Monday. One hundred twenty-four countries voted in favour of the deal. No countries voted against it, while 11 countries, including Poland, Israel, Italy, Russia, Slovakia and Iran abstained.
