Hundreds of Indian students, mostly from Punjab, are protesting and on hunger strike in Canada's Calgary after their post-graduation work permit (PGWP) applications were rejected. The students said they paid CAD 32,000 (₹21 lakh) for two-year programmes believing they were PGWP-eligible. They now argue that their programmes are being treated as non-credit courses that don't qualify for a PGWP.

Kerala CM VD Satheesan said eight people had died, eight remained missing, and 13 were injured after heavy rain triggered landslides and flooding across the state.
