Never spend 6 minutes doing something by hand when you can spend 6 hours trying to automate it.

πŸ” RT @dmokafa: Bad code is fragile. Clean code is flexible.

Bad code is technical. Clean code is functional.

Bad code has complex tests. Clean code has simple tests.

Bad code does multiple things. Clean code does only one thing.

Bad code kills projects. Clean code enables success.

πŸ” RT @rk4391: @nixcraft That it's too complex (or more complex than Windows or MacOS) for the average user to install or use on a day-to-day basis. https://t.co/BLde3UOZnB
πŸ” RT @characterselect: @nixcraft "you can't game on linux"
"you can't be a streamer on linux"
"linux is too complicated"
"you have to build it yourself"

These are pretty much hyperbole at this point. There's a grain of truth to each of them, but it's improved so very much.
πŸ” RT @DennisPochenk: @nixcraft "you have to do everything in code and i can't code"
"It doesn't support my Windows programs"
"Never heard of Linux, who uses that, there's only Windows and Apple"
"Android isn't Linux because its called Android"
"Free software can't be any good"
πŸ” RT @mlocik97: @DennisPochenk @nixcraft If Free software can't be good, than there doesn't exist good software at all, because every software use at least something from free software or is based on free software, not to mentoy nearly all programming languages are free.
πŸ” RT @Ammar_Sulaiman: @nixcraft Linux: it's objectively better.

less bugs
no viruses
faster
better security
faster updates
you can use your computer during updates
you can update your system and programs with a single command
yes, there are GUI interfaces for that
no mandatory reboot
πŸ” RT @wyoham: @nixcraft Sound, WiFi and other peripherals require Herculean efforts to get working - until the next upgrade.

In reality, it all "just works(tm)" these days. (Unless you're using stuff that just came out this morning)
πŸ” RT @RafaelB04600292: @nixcraft In my opinion, it is that people are afraid of the unknown. People reject what they are not familiar with. Windows has been in power for many decades, it is what people are familiar with as an OS.
πŸ” RT @GeoffRogersEU: @jeremybear123 @nixcraft The definition of hacker was originally someone who wrote clever computer code and was rather good at it. It has been corrupted and is often seen as a derogatory term.

πŸ” RT @nixcraft: How to declutter your mind

1 Clean up your physical space, especially the computer desk.

2 Going outside and focus on nature is excellent, but ongoing lockdown made it hard. I miss nature and garden walks for sure :'(

3 Now trying to find a great book to read. Any suggestions?
