Valmiki National Park

▪️ located at the India-Nepal border in the West Champaran district of Bihar.

▪️ NP established in the year 1990
on the bank of river Gandak.

▪️ excellent example of Himalayan Terai landscape.

▪️ The wildlife found in the forest of National Park are the Bengal tiger, Indian rhinoceros, black bear, Indian sloth bear, otter, Indian leopard, wild dog, buffalo, and boar.

▪️ Tharu’, a scheduled tribe, is the dominant community in the landscape of the Valmiki National Park.

▪️ Valmiki Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park is the 18th Tiger Reserve of the country. The Valmiki Tiger Reserve comprises of the Valmiki National Park and the Valmiki Wild Sanctuary.

What is the difference between Valley and depression?
Both valley and depression are at lower elevation as compared to the surrounding ground.

Valley:

In fact, valley is a special type of depression which is in between hills or mountains. If there is a series hill range or mountain range, there will be numerous valleys.
You come across the valleys while you are travelling in hilly regions.
Valleys are formed naturally during the formation of mountains.
Valleys are usually big in size.

Depression:

It is a region on the ground or a terrain which is at lower elevation.
It may be man-made or a natural formation.
The size of a depression ranges from very small to big.
