CPI value for the current year may then be calculated as follows:
Current year CPI = {226.00/218.00} X 100 = 103.67
The CPI value for the base year is always equal to 100. In this case,
(218/218) X 100
Thus, the percentage change in the current year CPI from the base year CPI is
Percentage change in CPI = (103.67- 100)/100 X 100
3.67%
In other, words, the rate of inflation in the current year is 3.67%

What is Fracking Technology ?
Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside. Water, sand and chemicals are injected into the rock at high pressure which allows the gas to flow out to the head of the well.
@UPSC_18
What is GyroCompass?
A gyrocompass is a type of non-magnetic compass which is based on a fast-spinning disc and the rotation of the Earth (or another planetary body if used elsewhere in the universe) to find geographical direction automatically.
A Gyro compass is a form of gyroscope, used widely on ships employing an electrically powered, fast-spinning gyroscope wheel and frictional forces among other factors utilising the basic physical laws, influences of gravity and the Earth's rotation to find the true north.
@UPSC_2018
Why don't mercury & Venus have moon?
Mercury doesn't have a gravitational pull powerful enough to hold anything else in orbit around itself. That's why it doesn't even have an atmosphere. And proximity to the Sun ensures that any object coming within Mercury's vicinity is sucked into the Sun directly. Even if Mercury did have a small satellite, the Sun's pull would disturb the orbit of the satellite, causing it to fall into the planet.
While Venus has a greater gravitational pull, it still faces the same problem. It's simply too close to the sun to hold on to another body.

What is Blue Water Gas?
A gas consisting mainly of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, made by passing steam over red-hot coke and burning with a blue flame, used especially as a source of hydrogen; also called blue gas, water gas.
@UPSC_2018
What is Coke?
Coke is a fuel with few impurities and a high carbon content, usually made from coal. It is the solid carbonaceous material derived from destructive distillation of low-ash, low-sulphur bituminous coal. Coke is also used to manufacture water gas.
@UPSC_18
What's IOT?
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.

Who developed the touchscreen?
E.A. Johnson is believed to be the first to developed the touchscreen in 1965. But the tablet, which was patented in 1969, could only read one touch at a time, and it was used for air traffic control until about 1995.
How the first cataract surgery was done?
The Sushruta Samhita documents cataract surgery. The patient had to look at the tip of his or her nose while the surgeon, holding the eyelids apart with thumb and index finger, used a needle-like instrument to pierce the eyeball from the side. It was then sprinkled with breast milk and the outside of the eye bathed with a herbal medication. The surgeon used the instrument to scrape out the clouded lens until the eye “assumed the glossiness of a resplendent cloudless sun”. During recovery it was important for the patient to avoiding coughing, sneezing, burping or anything else that might cause pressure in the eye. If the operation were a success, the patient would regain some useful vision, albeit unfocused.

Are Live Broadcasts are actually Live?
In radio and television, broadcast delay is an intentional delay (often seven seconds) when broadcasting live material. The delay is to prevent mistakes or unacceptable content from being broadcast.
What's Turing Award?
@UPSC_18
The ACM (Association for Comouting Machinery) Turing Award, often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of Computing,” carries a $1 million prize, with financial support provided by Google, Inc. It is named for Alan M. Turing, the British mathematician who articulated the mathematical foundation and limits of computing.
