It's a simple night, nothing planned, just me, Sveic's Ohyul and my twins, Sveic's Carmen, and the city stretching out in front of us.
We spent the first hour just drifting, our boots clicking against the concrete as we moved from one street stall to the next. The smell of toasted sugar and salty street snacks followed us, and we didn't fight it.
"We're only going out for a bit," I said, mostly to myself, as I adjusted my jacket.
Carmen didn't even look up from the bag of snacks she was raiding, but I heard the grin in her voice. "Yeah, that’s what you always say, Ohyul."
"Let’s just enjoy it," I told her.
And we did. We kept walking, the noise of the traffic fading into a steady pulse as we disappeared further into the night.
