US SOUTHCOM BOMBER TASK FORCE - ABORTED ATTEMPT - 10/AUG/2026

As some will have noticed, a number of B-52H "Stratofortress" bombers departed Minot AFB (KMIB) late yesterday to conduct a BTF mission to South America, with one source suggesting formation flights and photos alongside aircraft from Chile and Argentina was part of the plan.

Due to an issue with one or more of the supporting tanker aircraft, the sortie was scrubbed in-flight, and so will likely be attempted again in the coming days.

Using OSINT sources, I've mapped out the route the B-52s were expecting to take for their ~29-hour flight (again, this is based on OSINT information so the route may have been longer than this or have slight variations), as well as mapping the flight-plans of the supporting tankers (see inset maps).
