Site 311 is a large underground complex near the city of Abyek, along the Tehran-Qazvin corridor, roughly 100 km from Tehran. The facility is excavated into mountainous terrain and includes several tunnel portals, likely connected to an extensive underground network, one of the largest of its kind in Iran. Satellite imagery indicates a major project, with large volumes of excavated spoil, supporting infrastructure, and substantial rock overburden providing protection for facilities inside the mountain.

Most of the excavation work took place between 2007 and 2016. Work largely ceased afterward, with only parts of the complex brought into use.

The site attracted international attention in 2010 after the Iranian opposition group Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) claimed it was a secret uranium-enrichment…
