Overall USAF Tanker Numbers Have Dropped by 24% since Ceasefire in April #IranWar‌

While the numbers in CENTCOM itself remain consistent at just over 100 tankers, a previously steady decline in numbers across Europe has been replaced in the last fortnight with a sudden drop, with more than 20 tankers returning to the US and not being replaced.

The overall fleet peaked at 223 tankers (that we could track) in April, and now sits at just 169 as of this evening. Of those, 14 are permanently deployed to RAF Mildenhall (EGUN) in the UK under the 100th Air Refuelling Wing (up to a further 5 of their airframes are in the US for maintenance presently).

In total, 326 tankers (KC-135 and KC-46) have been deployed into CENTCOM or EUCOM since February 2026, out of a total of around 482 in the current inventory.

Of the 169 on my list currently in CENTCOM/EUCOM, 1 is believed destroyed in the attack on…
