If you’re using a Loop just to prepare or map a collection, you’re doing extra work.

Salesforce gave us the Transform element to handle this better.

When Transform is the right choice

👉 Map one collection to another
👉 Assign fields in bulk
👉 Use formulas for simple calculations
👉 Prepare records for create or update
👉 Fewer elements, cleaner Flow

Yes, Transform supports formulas, so you can generate dynamic values while mapping.

But Transform is not a decision engine.

You still need a Loop when

👉 IF / ELSE logic is required per record
👉 Different records need different logic
👉 Counters, flags, or multi-step calculations
👉 Business rules change per record

Simple rule to remember

👉 Data mapping + light logic →Transform
👉 Decision making → Loop
