You need to understand that whether the paper is easy or difficult, UPSC has to select only around 13,000–14,000 students for Mains, as per the 1:12 ratio.
Out of nearly 5.5 lakh aspirants who appeared, it is not difficult for UPSC to filter out that number.

For the last few days I have been talking to many senior aspirants and rankers who appeared for this Prelims. It looks like many could score only in 70s , very few in 80s.
There are chances that cutoff may come below 80.
So even if you are scoring in the 70s you should start preparing for Mains.
The cutoff is going to be unpredictable.
However you Just think positively and start preparation now.

My thoughts and experiences
I agree that there are some issues with UPSC, but I can still say that it is one of the finest institutions in the country, which has transformed the lives of many people from underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society.
The examinations conducted by UPSC provide a level playing field for students from diverse backgrounds.
Yes, there may be certain mistakes or shortcomings here and there, but they do not undermine its immense contribution to the nation.
