I know these days before Prelims are very stressful. So many thoughts will be coming, especially for those who have been preparing for years and faced failures.
Let me tell you one thing.
We are all here for some reason. Even if we fail in something, we may succeed in something bigger.
When I cleared the exam two years ago, I was very happy. But after a few days, I came to know that I would be getting IRS. I felt a little disappointed because I couldn’t get IAS or IPS.
After a few months, even that IRS didn’t work out. After so many years of struggle, again I had to fight for my service in the courts.
At that time, I didn’t understand why all this was happening to me. But now, when I look back, I feel it gave me a bigger role as a mentor.
A few years down the line, if I see my students whom I taught how to study, how to write, and everything about UPSC getting into IAS or IPS, that will be a bigger achievement for me.
So don’t think too much about results. Just focus on your preparation.
Anything can happen in life. Our duty is to do our work and leave the rest.

Setting aside success and failure in the Civil Services Examination, one of the most enriching aspects of my UPSC preparation has been studying the Ethics paper. The impact it has had on me will stay for decades to come. My speech, writing, and actions have been deeply influenced and shaped by this single paper.
By bringing together diverse ideas Western, Eastern, religious, non-religious, historical, and contemporary it has helped me view society in a much broader and more meaningful way than I had ever imagined.
