new series of gross domestic product (gdp) estimates with base year 2022-23

Whenever such things are in news
Always study the basics of GDP gnp ndp nnp.
Market cost vs factor cost
Nominal vs real
What is base year
Purchasing parity
GDP deflator

And what happens when they change the base year. What difference it makes.

My experiences and thoughts.

One suggestion to both boys and girls.

Don’t leave people during their low times. Ups and downs are a very natural part of life. A person who is poor or unsuccessful today may become rich or successful tomorrow.
What truly matters is whether they have love, respect, hard work, discipline, consistency, and values. If they possess these qualities, stand by them. It is always a matter of time.

These kinds of current affairs you shall study for UPSC prelims. As they are futuristic and very important in cancer treatments.
Before reading any current affairs just think how it is important for the country and people
And also understand basics of such current issues.
For example here you should know what are T-cells?
Difference between antibodies and antigens
Chemotherapy etc

Statement Analysis

1. Correct
Silver has the highest electrical and thermal conductivity of all metals.

2. Correct
Silver occurs:
• In native form (elemental silver)
• In ores like argentite (Ag₂S) and horn silver (AgCl).

3. Incorrect
India is not among the top five primary silver producers.
Major producers include Mexico, China, Peru, Chile, and Australia. India mainly produces silver as a by-product of lead-zinc mining.

4. Correct
Silver iodide (AgI) is widely used in cloud seeding because its crystal structure is similar to ice, helping water droplets freeze and form rain.

Correct Answer: (b) 1, 2 and 4 only.

Prelims Strategy 2026

Once again I am reminding:

1) Do not focus on finishing books for Prelims.

2) Focus on reading recurring PYQ themes, basic concepts of various subjects, common-sense topics, and PYQ-related current affairs.

3) Do multiple revisions and give 1–2 mocks per subject to build confidence and identify your weak areas.

4) Finish weak subjects first and later focus on your strong subjects.

5) Do not spend too much time on any single subject. Study according to the weightage of each subject.

6) For CSAT, practice the last 5 years’ papers multiple times.

7) If you do not know the maths and reasoning solutions of PYQs, watch some solved PYQ videos for maths and reasoning.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday ordered a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean to help protect allied assets as war in the Middle East showed no signs of de-escalating. Macron also noted that France has defence agreements with several Gulf states as well as commitments to Jordan and Iraq.

Those who are giving 2027 attempt shall continue to read the newspaper.

Newspaper is something which will improve your writing skills, common sense, global awareness, essay writing (reading editorials), and also help you find examples, data, facts, policies.

However you have to be very smart while reading unless and until you know why you are reading any news item or editorial you can't remember much from it.

Be careful while writing notes from newspaper. Just note down any report name, committee name, policy name, data, keyword, scheme name etc. don't have to write sentences from it.

Spend not more than 30 min - 1 hour on it.

Answer: A

A Hall-effect thruster is an electric propulsion system used in satellites and spacecraft. It works by ionising a propellant (usually xenon) and accelerating the ions using crossed electric and magnetic fields, producing thrust. It provides high efficiency but low thrust, mainly used for satellite station-keeping and orbit raising.

Some journeys will be heard and appreciated, while others will remain behind the walls.
But remember, every UPSC journey is a symbol of courage, bravery, and determination.

No matter what the result is, by choosing UPSC you have already proved that you are ready for any kind of battle in life.

Many of those who make it to the final list have years of preparation and have faced multiple failures sometimes in Prelims, sometimes in Mains, and sometimes in the Interview. At times it is CSAT, at other times it may be Essay, Ethics, or the Optional.

But every time they faced a setback, they tried to understand the reasons for their failure and worked on the weaknesses that were holding them back

So my small advice is try to identify your weak areas and strengthen them. It will definitely increase your chances of success.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused in the beginning of the session and abruptly ending because of Internet issues. Sir is currently training in Shimla so some issues are there with the internet. However he has spoken for almost 35 min about prelims and forest services.
Please watch the session and understand the examination in a better way.
Thank you all

OTEC Project in India

OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) is a renewable energy technology that generates electricity by using the temperature difference between warm surface seawater and cold deep seawater.

India’s OTEC programme is being developed by the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, mainly targeting island regions like the Lakshadweep Islands.

Concept of OTEC

Tropical oceans have warm surface water (~25–30°C) and cold deep water (~5–10°C) at depths of around 1000 m.

OTEC systems use this ~20°C temperature difference to produce electricity through a heat engine cycle.

Working

Warm surface seawater heats a working fluid (like ammonia).

The fluid vaporizes and spins a turbine, generating electricity.

Cold deep seawater is pumped up to condense the vapor back into liquid.

The cycle repeats continuously to generate power.
