Hello everyone,
This is Rohan Kadam. I have secured AIR 295 in Civil Services Examination- 2021. This was my 5th attempt. I have appeared for 3 Mains- Written Exams and 1 Interview. For me it was long journey with 4 failures.
Every failure tested endurance and ability to rise and slog again for the success. Failure is such a beautiful thing. It takes away all those things which you desired to be with you. Be it people, moments of happiness, social recognition and most important confidence. But when you conquer failure, success provides everything in return, probably even more than what one imagined. Particularly, in civil service exam which is so competitive that 10-12 lacs people apply for it and only 600-700 get selected.
How to deal with failure?
- Right Assessment of previous attempt. This exam is all about understanding demand of the examination. Those who get it in first place, get selected in first go. Less fortunate understand the demand after 2 or 3 attempts.
- Un-burden expectations. Since we are at most energetic phase of life ie. Youth. Everyone keeps certain expectations from us. Our Parents want us to have stable job and life. If one is into a relationship, partners have some expectations. As a person one may have some expectations from oneself. But expectations should not hamper the efficiency and effort.
- Support is 'two way' process. We must give confidence to family, friends and mentors that we will give full effort and clear this examination. Then we get unconditional support from them in return.
- Start with clean slate. It helps if we start afresh with notes. This doesn't mean to clear all previous notes and prepare new for every topic. But one must reassess gap areas and prepare fresh notes. Freshness of notes itself transmit positive energy
while reading.
- Simplicity is key to success. More simpler answers, more will be the score. More simple, lucid your presentation, more will be the score. It is rightly said, Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Trust me, Simplicity is hard earned, it requires practice. I would like to quote a Gahzal :
"ye nahīñ dekhte kitnī hai riyāzat kis kī,
log āsān samajh lete haiñ āsānī ko"
- Keep your Parachute Ready. Plan B is like parachute. Whenever one feel, S/he may hit the ground very hard, Plan B act as a parachute. This doesn't mean, we open the parachute, before even jumping. One can explore options for post-graduation or relevant courses which provide employability. This gives confidence and with free mind one can focus on civil service preparation. This also act as a cushion for family. Trust me, confidence to jump from high sky come from parachute bag which is at back. In competitive and less probable scenarios such things matter more.
Trust me,
Hope is a light which guide us in the dark!
“दिल नाउम्मीद तो नहीं, नाकाम ही तो है

Keep Trying, Keep Failing and Keep Rising!
Until next time,

ETHICS PAPER
It is my Favourite paper which I really enjoyed throughout my preparation for several reasons.
1) I learned many new things which broadened my overall knowledge, perception and understanding.
For example i read new concepts like Rawls justice theory, Virtue ethics, deontology, emotional intelligence and many other concepts
2) it broadened my decision making skills especially because of these new concepts.
3) learned about many great civil servants, leaders and their ethical practices.
Eg - Metro man Sreedharan sir.
4) Real understanding of civil services problems through case studies and the methods to deal such situations.
5) How to deal Ethical dilemmas which everyone faces in our day to day life
For example whether to eat non veg or veg, online vs offline education.
6) Able to learn so much from our real life situations and able to write them in our answers in the final examination.
This way even studying the paper for six years there was always a scope for improvement in the way i see the paper.
The aim of this paper is not to make someone ethical but able to identify and practice different dimensions of ethics and to broaden the overall understanding of what is right and wrong , so that as an officer one takes a decision with clear attitude and knowledge.

***IMPORTANT ADVICE
If you really wanted to clear State PCS or UPSC civil services then you should not deviate from the path by giving other exams which don’t align with upsc syllabus or examination pattern.
Unnecessarily don’t waste your time and energy by applying and sitting for other exams.
Every exam in this country requires separate strategies and dedication.
If you are good at UPSC syllabus it doesn’t mean that you will clear other exams.
Remove that mindset and focus on one exam.
Right Attitude and Guidance is required for your success in UPSC.

My dear friends,
It is not about Delhi. This type of incidents can occur even in Hyderabad or any place.
The problem is with severe Violation of norms, lack of regular assessments and audits ,failure of Muncipal officials, lack of strict punishments.
We need to talk about these things which can avoid future incidents.
It is important that we make officials, workers, institutions liable for such kind of negligence.
Myself and many of my friends have benefited from old Rajinder Nagar.
If someone dies on a highway due to potholes or imroper design you can’t say people to avoid Highways.
So generalising the things will not bring a right and long lasting solutions.

TELANGANA GROUP 1 MAINS
Hello Everyone
I wish Everyone is doing well.
In every state exams Politics play a major role and that is the reason for delays in the conduct of exams and the release of results.
Because of politics many SINCERE ASPIRANTS who are preparing day and night for years and years suffer the most.
In every competitive exam there is always a majority of Non serious or people who just give half hearted attempts.
And also in the disguise of students there are politically motivated people who are instigating other serious aspirants and spreading misinformation .
I have spoken to many Serious and potential Group 1 aspirants and they are very much prepared for the Group 1 mains and they want the conduct the exam on time.
Politically Motivated people and those who didn’t prepare well because of various reasons are creating disturbances.
Already we have been waiting for 10 years to write this exam.
Many serious and senior Aspirants have lost their youthful years and sacrificed many things in their life.
So i sincerely request the Government and Serious Aspirants to condemn these kind of actions.
Timely Conduct of MAINS exam and the Release of Results is the need of the hour.
**(Once again i m not denying that there are some issues with group 1 notification but keeping in mind 10years of waiting, frequent cancellations and the pain and struggle of senior aspirants the exam should be conducted and the issue should be solved either through Judiciary or Pro government action and not through rescheduling again and again where political parties gain advantage and Many senior and serious Aspirants will suffer )
I am Sorry if people have taken my comments in a wrong manner.
I Myself been into these preparation and, struggles and pain for more than 7 years and I always stand with Hardworking and Sincere Aspirants irrespective of success and failures.

I m not denying the fact that there can be some Issues with the Notification.
Let us say it may affect 5-10% of the total seats
However keeping in mind the 90 -95% of the seats and the sincere Aspirants and the overall importance of the examination, it is necessary to conduct exams on time and the issues can be sorted out simultaneously in the judicial system.
These kind of issues will be there in every Exam and Nobody can expect a 100% perfect process.
Even In UPSC Civil services process and notification there are many smaller issues but it doesn’t stop it from conducting exams.
It regularly conducts exams on a timely manner because of which many Serious aspirants get benefitted.
So I request every aspirant not to fall for these politically motivated rumours and waste your time and energy.

Good Morning Everyone
I wish you all are preparing well for your exams.
Unfortunately due to some Bonafide mistakes My Service Allocation is on hold and It was a very tough time for my parents and me.
I have been trying to rectify the mistakes for the last few weeks.
At the same time i always believe that everything happens for a reason and i thought this was an opportunity to prepare myself for Telangana Group 1 Mains.
If I clear it will be a great opportunity to serve my own state and people.
In these tough times many of my old friends and CSE batchmates and the Almighty have been a great support.
They helped me in every possible way to continue my preparation.
Once again I wish all Mains Aspirants a Very Good luck.🤞
See you all after the exams.
Thank you 🙏

3) Understanding syllabus
4) Limiting your Sources
5) Writing one or two questions at the end of the day
