🌧️ What is Cloud Seeding?

Cloud seeding is a weather modification process where chemicals are introduced into clouds to encourage precipitation (rain or snow). It is mainly used to increase rainfall, reduce drought, or clear pollution and smog.

⚗️ How It Works
1. Substances used:
• Silver Iodide (AgI)
• Potassium Iodide (KI)
• Sodium Chloride (common salt)
• Dry Ice (Solid CO₂)
• Liquid Propane (for colder clouds)
2. Process:
• Aircraft or rockets release these particles into clouds.
• The particles act as nuclei for water vapor to condense around.
• As droplets grow heavier, they fall as rain.

🌍 Applications
• Drought mitigation: Used in drought-prone areas to induce rainfall.
• Air pollution control: Helps in washing down pollutants, especially in urban centers like Delhi.
• Agriculture: Enhances soil moisture and supports crop growth.
• Snow enhancement: Used in some regions (like the US and China) to increase snowpack in mountains.

⚠️ Limitations and Concerns
• Unpredictable results: Success depends on the type and moisture level of clouds.
• Environmental impact: Concerns over silver iodide accumulation in the ecosystem.
• Cost and logistics: Expensive and requires advanced meteorological coordination.
• Ethical issues: Can affect weather in unintended areas.

🇮🇳 Cloud Seeding in India
• Conducted in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu earlier.
• Delhi’s first trial, mentioned in the image, aims to reduce air pollution and improve air quality after Diwali smog, pending IMD (India Meteorological Department) approval.
• Pilots have already completed test flights, and equipment is ready.

🧩 In Short

Cloud Seeding = Artificial Rainmaking
Purpose: Pollution control, drought relief, agriculture boost
Agents: Silver iodide, salt, dry ice
Challenge: Requires suitable clouds + IMD clearance

Clarification!

Those who were asking for Prelims Mentorship and Mains Mentorship through DMs , I want to clarify that I am currently focusing on my Previous Mains Mentorship Batches which started in May and June and now Mains Test series with Mentorship.

If I get enough time then I will start Prelims Group Mentorship and also Comprehensive Mentorship for 2027 attempt in the month of January.

I will inform about those details in due course of time.

So those who are preparing for 2026 attempt shall focus on Mains preparation till January

And Those who are aiming for 2027 attempt should focus on Ncerts, Pyqs and syllabus, Newspaper, topper copies analysis till January.

Those who are aiming for 2027 attempt remember that you have now plenty of time . If you use this time in the Right direction then you will have high probability to score well in both prelims and Mains.
But if you read random books or content or if you don’t show consistency and hard-work then your chances becomes very low.

So plan well, Write everyday, Stay focused on previous year question and Syllabus, Read Newspaper every day, have Basic conceptual clarity on every subject, choose right optional and give 2-3 hours everyday on that.

I am trying my best to show the right direction for the civil services so try to follow the posts on a serious note and make your preparation easy and simple.

I have said it several times that Writing Tests is the best way to finish Syllabus in time and overcome fears and develop confidence . I always suggest to write Mains Test series before jan or feb so that you will learn to sit for 3 hours every test and experience the stress you go through while writing mains.

Whether you write 10 questions or 15 questions out of 20 just sit down for 3 hours and write tests.

I strongly advise you to write SAMIKSHA Test series as the question papers and model answers are designed by myself with the help of few other rankers to make it resemble the final mains pattern.

And also through tests I will be able to discuss with you about your preparation issues and give you right strategy for next few months.

All this will be more useful if you give enough time for mains test series.

Try to Join the Test series at the earliest dates for maximum productivity and also you will be able to finish all 14 Tests in time.

Yojana and Kurukshetra

Once again I remind students to read 8-10 months of Yojana and Kurukshetra ( selective chapters) before February to enrich their mains knowledge.
Take 5-10 days for these magazines( 3-4 hours everyday)

Don’t neglect these two magazines.

Every month they give detailed discussions on various government schemes, Best national and international practices, examples, data, reports, committees, and other value added information related to all Mains GS papers.
