Man accused of waging war against govt gets bail after 8 yrs of custody under UAPA

The Delhi High Court granted bail to Mohammad Saqib alias Saqib Iftekar, an alleged member of the pro-IS group Harkat-ul-Harb-E-Islam, after nearly eight years of custody under the UAPA. The court noted that only 40 of 120 prosecution witnesses had been examined and the trial was unlikely to conclude soon. The NIA accused Saqib of waging war against the government.

A Bangladesh tribunal sentenced seven leaders from former PM Sheikh Hasina's Awami League to death in absentia for their role in crackdown on the 2024 student-led uprising. Beijing to impose no-fly zone after small plane crashes into city's tallest tower

China will impose a no-fly zone over Beijing and tighten a citywide drone ban after a small aircraft crashed into the city's tallest tower, 108-storey CITIC Tower, in June, state media reported. The ban will not affect regular airline flights and rescue operations, the report added. The crash had ​killed the pilot and injured 13 others not on board.

A study published in 'Nature Geoscience' revealed that researchers found a large hidden water reservoir around 2,900 km below Earth's surface. The reservoir is located between the mantle and its liquid outer core, in an area that researchers call 'ultralow velocity zones'. Govt imposes 0.4% charge on UPI payments over ₹2,000 made to shops & businesses

Finance Ministry announced on Tuesday its decision to levy a 0.4% merchant discount rate (MDR) on person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions worth over ₹2,000. The order capped MDR at ₹300/transaction for payments worth ₹75,000 and above and said the commission will be shared amongst banks and app providers. All person-to-person transactions, involving payments made to other people, will remain free.

Rapido has been fined ₹10 lakh by CCPA for misleading ads, unfair trade practices, and dark patterns in which riders were prompted to pay more before their rides were confirmed.
