Jewellery stocks fall after PM Modi asks Indians to avoid buying gold

Major jewellery stocks fell on Tuesday after PM Narendra Modi urged Indians to avoid buying gold unless necessary. Kalyan Jewellers India dropped 6.11% to ₹576.85, while Titan fell 1.24% to ₹5,052. Thangamayil Jewellery declined 1.79% to ₹5,314.50, and Muthoot Finance slipped 1.48% to ₹2,945 on the BSE. Senco Gold was the only major jewellery stock in the green, rising 1.13%.

IndiGo plane collides with pole at Srinagar airport

An IndiGo flight from Navi Mumbai to Srinagar collided with a pole at Srinagar airport during the parking process. The airline reportedly said that all passengers and crew members on the flight were safe after the incident and that no injuries were reported. They all deboarded the flight safely using manual aircraft stairs, it added.

2 men found alive in tunnel 9 days after deadly Nepal floods; pic shows miracle rescue

At least two people, identified as 45-year-old Kabir Maharjan and 30-year-old Sanjay Shah, have miraculously been pulled alive from Trishuli's hydropower project tunnel nine days after the deadly flash floods in Nepal. This has raised hopes that more people stuck there could be rescued alive. Around 900 workers are missing from 12 hydropower projects in Nepal.

What can buyers expect about gold hitting ₹1.6 lakh per 10 grams?

Bonanza Senior Research Analyst Nirpendra Yadav said ₹1.6 lakh/10 grams remains an important level to watch for MCX gold, which could be treated as a "breakout level". "On the downside, ₹1.52-1.50 lakh is the first important support zone, followed by around ₹1.48 lakh," Yadav said. "A sustained break below Rs 1.48 lakh would weaken the immediate bullish structure," he added.

ChatGPT, Claude down for several users globally

Several users worldwide reported issues with generative AI platforms including OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude and X's Grok, according to Downdetector. As of 8:20 pm, over 2,800 reports of issues with ChatGPT were recorded on Downdetector in India alone, reported HT. It further said that in US, over 35,000 reports of issues with ChatGPT were recorded around the same time.

SBI UPI services to be down for 45 minutes tomorrow

State Bank of India has announced that its UPI services will remain temporarily unavailable for 45 minutes on Friday. The service disruption is scheduled due to maintenance activity and will last between 12:15 am and 1:00 am. "The activity may, however, be completed early. Customers may continue to use UPI Lite Services for uninterrupted service," SBI said.

Gold prices rise for the first time in 4 days in India

The price of gold rose for the first time in four days as it closed ₹2,757 higher at ₹1,53,941 per 10 grams on Thursday. Gold prices had last closed higher on August 28, and have fallen by ₹8,394 per 10 grams since then. Iconic Air India logo removed from top of Mumbai building

The iconic 38-by-24-foot Air India logo atop the 23-storey Air India building in Mumbai's Nariman Point has been dismantled into 40 pieces by the PWD. The operation took a week, as the workers faced strong winds and rain at that height, PWD Mumbai's Chief Engineer Pradnya Walke said.
