Govt blocks nearly 5,000 Telegram channels for film piracy
The Centre has ordered intermediaries to disable 7,393 URLs, including 4,996 Telegram channels and 1,263 websites, for hosting or distributing pirated films. The government said it has strengthened the legal framework to curb unauthorised recording and online dissemination of films through the Cinematograph (Amendment) Act, 2023.
