After getting convicted of raping a junior colleague in Goa in 2013, Tehelka magazine founder Tarun Tejpal appealed for leniency before the Bombay High Court's Goa bench. "I'm 62, and I believe I'm a victim. I have a wife, and that's not much else to say...Please be lenient with me," Tejpal told the court before his sentencing.

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Assistant Commandant Avdhesh Kumar has filed an FIR against 150 to 200 unidentified villagers from Nepal's Susta for allegedly pelting stones at SSB personnel at the India-Nepal border. Stones were reportedly pelted after SSB personnel objected to villagers allegedly extending an earthen embankment towards Indian territory. Further investigation is underway in the case.

India to get its 1st plastic currency notes next yr: RBI Governor

The RBI is planning to roll out India's first polymer banknotes from the next financial year, Governor Sanjay Malhotra said on Wednesday.
