Samsung to ban smart TV apps that secretly share users' internet connections

Samsung will ban smart TV apps containing proxy code that shares owners' home internet connections with strangers. Some of these apps claim to have been installed on hundreds of millions of smart TVs, according to new security research. At least one of the smart TV apps was a Pac-Man game that Samsung had endorsed.

Anti-cruelty law for married women applies to those in live-ins: Supreme Court

Supreme Court has ruled that women in live-in relationships "in nature of marriage" can seek protection under Section 498A of IPC, which deals with cruelty by husbands and in-laws. The court said protection will apply only if the couple shares "intention to marry”. Denying such women protection while granting it to legally married women would violate Article 14, SC said.

Israel court halts plan to place crocodiles around prison holding Palestinians

A court in Israel ordered a temporary freeze to National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's plan to place crocodiles around Ketziot prison which holds Palestinians. The order came after an animal rights organisation filed a petition against the plan and said it ignored the risks to the crocodiles. The plan will stay frozen until authorities submit a response to the court.

Humayun's Tomb decaying rapidly due to air pollution: IIT study

A study conducted by IIT Roorkee and IIT Kanpur found that years of exposure to air pollution is accelerating the decay of Humayun's Tomb. Researchers analysed black crust made of gypsum collected from the sandstone in different parts of the monument. The gypsum traps dust and metal particles from vehicle emissions and construction activities, and gradually weakens the sandstone.

Indian agents killed over 30 terrorists in Pak, says LeT terrorist on camera

A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Rizwan Hanif admitted on camera that over 30 LeT members have been killed by unknown assailants inside Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) over the past 3-4 years. Hanif claimed Indian agents orchestrated these killings. However, India has rejected the charge. This is the first known public admission by a Lashkar terrorist of such killings.

Don't want dogs to die: Delhi HC as it orders sterilisation camps for stray dogs

Delhi HC has ordered MCD and NDMC to run ward-wise trial sterilisation and vaccination camps for stray dogs. The court also ordered that dogs won't be forcibly captured and public will need to bring the animals voluntarily. "We don't want any dog to die...5% population should be left unsterilised so that the next generation sees the dog," the bench said.
