Police formed human chain, used white bedsheets to remove Wangchuk from protest site

The policemen, who removed Sonam Wangchuk from protest site, came in plain clothes and uniform. They moved onto the stage, surrounded Wangchuk with white bedsheets, lifted him from his bed and took him away to an ambulance waiting outside the protest site. One group of officers had formed a human chain at the base of stage, preventing protesters from approaching.

Thieves move 3,500-kg cannon 3,000 feet downhill in mattresses, steal it from historic MP fort

A 400-year-old cannon weighing around 3,500 kg was stolen from historic Narwar Fort in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district earlier this week. Thieves allegedly wrapped the cannon in mattresses and moved it nearly 3,000 feet downhill using a trolley before loading it onto a vehicle. Both guards assigned night duty had reportedly left the fort and gone home that night.

Iranian attack injures US service members at Jordan airbases

Several American service members were injured after Iranian attacks targeted two Jordanian airbases this week, reports said. 'Tareekh pe tareekh' can’t define justice system: Allahabad High Court in 25-year-old case

The Allahabad High Court said "tareekh pe tareekh", a famous courtroom dialogue from Sunny Deol-starrer 'Damini', shouldn't become hallmark of the Indian criminal justice system. Justice Rajeev Bharti made the remark while granting anticipatory bail to two men in kidnapping case pending for 25 years. SIR deadline extended by 10 days in Maha, draft electoral roll to be out on Aug 17

The Election Commission has extended the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra by 10 days, with the exercise now set to finish on August 8 instead of July 29. Vikram-1's maiden flight tested its performance by deploying multiple technology-demonstration payloads.
