In a setback to Mamata Banerjee, actress and TMC MP Koel Mallick has resigned from Rajya Sabha, becoming the fourth TMC MP to resign since the West Bengal Assembly elections. Earlier, MPs Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, Sushmita Dev, and Prakash Chik Baraik resigned from Rajya Sabha. They joined the BJP and have been fielded as BJP candidates for Rajya Sabha by-polls.

IMD issues yellow alert as heat, humidity push Delhi's temperature to nearly 40°C

India exports $140 million worth of goods to UK at zero duty on day 1 of trade pact rollout

India exported goods worth $140 million to UK at zero duty on the first day of the implementation of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal said on Wednesday. The shipments included electronics, pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, and other products. Under the agreement, nearly 99% of Indian exports receive duty-free access to the UK market.

Nearly 10,000 MBBS seats added for 2026-27 session

National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved nearly 10,000 (9,911) additional MBBS seats for the 2026-27 academic session, taking the country’s total sanctioned MBBS seat capacity to 1,36,939. After the increase, government institutes will have 63,296 seats, and private colleges will have 73,643 seats.
