Volkswagen may cut 50,000 more jobs, warns CEO

Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume has hinted at a potential job cut affecting around 50,000 employees worldwide. In a memo to staff, seen by Reuters, Blume said the cuts could be needed to close a 20% cost disadvantage compared to global competitors. Earlier this year, Volkswagen announced plans to cut 50,000 jobs in Germany by 2030.

Rajnath Singh inaugurates Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, 3 hour journey cut to 40 mins

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway today, which will reduce travel time from around three hours to just 40 minutes. Built at an estimated cost of ₹4,700 crore, the National Expressway-6 connects Shaheed Path in Lucknow with Chakeri in Kanpur. The six-lane expressway has a maximum permissible speed limit of 120 kmph.

The CBI has uncovered an alleged scholarship fraud in Bhopal in which government funds meant for MBA students were allegedly diverted through bank accounts opened without the students' knowledge. An enquiry found that nearly ₹99.48 lakh in government scholarships was diverted between January 2020 and October 2021. Six people, including college and bank officials, have been named as accused.
