Argentina are the most successful among them, having won the title three times (1978, 1986 and 2022), followed by France with two titles (1998 and 2018). Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 recovered partially after early selling triggered buying at lower levels on Monday. The BSE Sensex fell 712 points to an intraday low of 76,857.43, while the Nifty dropped 206.7 points to 24,000.20. By around 10:26 am, the Sensex had rebounded over 450 points from its low to trade at 77,323.01.

Heatwave claims 10,000 lives in Europe

European countries reported more than 10,000 excess deaths during the record-breaking heatwave that engulfed the west of the continent in late June, official data showed. More than 9,000 people who died included people aged 65 and above, according to WHO-backed EuroMOMO.
