Delhi, 79 other cities record AQI less than 50; list released

Delhi recorded its lowest daily average AQI of 2026, at 48, on Thursday, the Commission for Air Quality Management said. "Delhi recorded its last 'Good' AQI day on 10th September 2023, when the daily average AQI stood at 45," it added. CAQM also released a list showing 79 other cities apart from Delhi that clocked AQI of less than 50.

Govt explains why citizens aren't given a choice in using ethanol-blended fuels

During an interview, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri explained why Indians aren't being given a choice between using ethanol-blended fuels or normal petrol. "Why would anybody be asking for a choice which is inferior?" he said. Using Brazil's example, he added, "Brazil has now gone [E27 to E32]. That's the choice. The choice is not to go to zero."

100 metre of 25,000-volt overhead railway wire stolen in Bihar

Thieves allegedly cut and stole an overhead electrical wire between Tehta and Jehanabad railway stations in Bihar, disrupting train services for nearly three hours, officials said. "Thieves cut a 25,000-volt OHE wire (roughly around 100 metres) at 3.05 am on Thursday," an official said. The Railway Protection Force recovered the stolen material, and an investigation is underway.

28 killed, several trapped in major fire at shoe factory in China

At least 28 people were killed, and several others remain trapped after a major fire broke out at a shoe factory in southeastern China's Fujian on Thursday. Petroleum Minister Puri doesn't deny E20 could damage vehicle parts, says 'It's a small price'

During an interview, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri responded to a question about an ARAI study, which isn't public, claiming E20 may damage parts in E10-compliant vehicles.
