ED attaches over ₹1,000-cr assets in Goa illegal iron ore mining case

The Enforcement Directorate attached assets worth over ₹1,023 crore of AVS Group, including properties located in Singapore, in an alleged illegal iron ore mining case in Goa. The ED said the Supreme Court, through its judgements in 2014 and 2018, has held that all mining undertaken in Goa after 22.11.2007 (till issue of fresh mining leases) was illegal.

WB to introduce bills to address public disorder, attacks on police

ONGC shifts from 'oil-and-gas' to 'gas-and-oil' company

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Chairman Arun Singh said the company should increasingly be viewed as a "gas-and-oil" company rather than an oil-and-gas producer. "Gas is now slightly more than oil in our portfolio," Singh said, adding that ONGC's future growth will be driven largely by gas production. Indian Railways has increased penalty for male passengers travelling in ladies' coaches or compartments on trains. Under the provisions of Jan Vishwas Act, 2026, penalty has been increased from ₹500 to ₹2,500.
