Railways doubles fine for ticketless passengers
Indian Railways has doubled the minimum fine for passengers undertaking ticketless travel from ₹250 to ₹500, effective Saturday, June 20, several X handles of the national transporter announced. The changes have been introduced under the provisions of the Jan Vishwas Act, 2026. In May, the Central Railway zone had reportedly collected ₹40.85 crore from 4.96 lakh ticketless travellers.

PhonePe will now charge its users who keep their wallets inactive for a year. Users who don't make any financial transactions through the PhonePe Wallet for 365 consecutive days will be charged a 'Wallet Inactivity Maintenance Fee' of ₹100/quarter.
