RBI revives currency swap window, to offer 6% returns on dollar deposits

RBI introduced a swap facility for new three-to-five-year Foreign Currency Non-Resident FCNR(B) deposits, with Indian banks likely offering up to 6% annual return on fixed dollar deposits. The facility will remain open till October 16 for deposits mobilised till September 30. A similar scheme was last introduced in 2013 during a currency crisis and raised $34 billion from NRIs.

Burning spidercam falls from 65 feet onto pitch during football match in Hungary; video surfaces

A wire-suspended spidercam caught fire and fell over 65 feet onto the pitch during Hungary's friendly match against Kazakhstan at Nagyerdei Stadium in Debrecen on Tuesday. Iran threaten to stop FIFA World Cup matches over unauthorised flags, slogans

Iran have warned FIFA that their matches at FIFA World Cup 2026 could be halted if unauthorised flags are displayed or slogans against the national team are chanted in stadiums. "The team manager will...be responsible for stopping the match," Iran Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali said. Iran will open their FIFA World Cup campaign against New Zealand on June 15.

Nepal has not banned import of Indian mangoes, says govt

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare dismissed reports that claimed that Nepal has banned the import of Indian mangoes, calling them "factually incorrect and misleading". It said Nepal clarified on June 10 that imports remain permitted, subject to phytosanitary requirements. Since January 2026, India has exported 149 mango consignments totalling 2,005 metric tonnes to Nepal, it added.

Oracle shares fell in extended trading after it reported quarterly capital expenditure that exceeded estimates, raising concerns about the profitability of its AI infrastructure business.
