NIA arrests absconding former TMC MLA in Bhangar blast case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested ex-TMC MLA Saokat Molla in connection with the Bhangar blast case. Molla, a prime suspect previously declared absconding, was apprehended following coordinated searches across eight locations, including his residence. The case stems from a March 19 crude bomb explosion in South 24 Parganas that left one person dead.

US forces board oil tanker carrying Iranian crude oil in Indian Ocean

US forces boarded an oil tanker, MT Davina, in the Indian Ocean overnight that was sanctioned by Washington for transporting Iranian crude, the US military said. "We will continue global maritime enforcement to disrupt illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran," a post on X read. Davina was sanctioned in 2024 by US Treasury.

The monsoon made its onset over Kerala on June 4, a few days later than usual, and is now moving across southern and coastal regions. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched E85 fuel at a petrol pump in Delhi. The fuel contains 15% petrol and 85% ethanol and may help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 61%.
