49 die of thirst in Sahara desert after truck breaks down

At least 49 people died from thirst after their truck broke down in the Sahara Desert in northern Niger, officials said. The victims, all Nigeriens, were returning from a religious festival in Mali when they got stranded near the Algeria-Mali border.
