The layoffs come amidst the company hiring for over 800 roles, including for commercialising robotaxis. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi described the restructuring as "necessary" in an internal memo.

A University of Bonn-led study found kitchen sponges release microplastics as they wear down during everyday dishwashing. Depending on sponge type, annual emissions ranged from 0.68 grams to 4.21 grams per person. However, researchers noted that water consumption, not microplastics, accounts for 85% to 97% of the total environmental impact of hand-washing dishes.

World's largest gold processor Rajesh Exports accused of inflating revenue by ₹15 lakh crore

The SEBI has accused Rajesh Exports, known as the world's largest gold processor, of misrepresenting consolidated revenues worth ₹15.15 lakh crore between FY21 and FY25. World's first nuclear dustbin almost ready, set to be sealed for 1 lakh years

Finland's Onkalo, expected to be the world’s first permanent repository for spent nuclear fuel, is almost ready. Located about 430 metres underground in 1.9-billion-year-old bedrock, it will seal radioactive fuel in copper canisters surrounded by bentonite clay. The facility can store 6,500 tonnes of spent fuel and is designed to isolate waste for 1,00,000 years after official approval is granted.

India becomes 2nd largest solar growth market, surpassing US

India has become the world's second-largest solar growth market, surpassing US in annual solar capacity addition in 2025, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday. According to data from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), India added 37 GW of solar capacity in 2025, while US added 34 GW.
