The Supreme Court quashed domestic violence and dowry demand proceedings against in-laws of a woman, stating that generalised allegations lacking specific overt acts cannot justify continuation of prosecution against husband's relatives. It added in-laws can't be prosecuted merely for asking wife to adjust. Notably, Madhya Pradesh High Court had refused to quash proceedings against the in-laws.

Pakistan rejects Trump's invite to normalise relations with Israel

Pakistan has rejected US President Trump's invitation to join Abraham Accords and normalise relations with Israel, reports said. "Personally, I don't think we should join any such accord that clashes with our fundamental ideologies," Pakistani Minister Khawaja Asif said. How have petrol prices changed in India since independence?

Petrol cost ₹0.25/litre in 1947, when India gained independence, but jumped to ₹0.90/litre by 1970, and to ₹4.20/litre in 1990, just before the Indian economy was liberalised. Petrol cost ₹21.13/litre in 1996 and, with the turn of the millennium, it hit ₹25.94/litre. It later reached ₹43.51/litre in 2005, ₹51.43/litre in 2010, ₹72/litre in 2014 and ₹80/litre in 2020.

15 more arrested in judicial officers hostage case in West Bengal

Iran drives US fighter jet out, shoots down MQ-9 drone inside its airspace

Iran's IRGC claimed that it shot down a US MQ-9 drone on Tuesday for violating its airspace. Iran also shot at an F-35 fighter jet and an RQ-4 drone, driving them both out of its airspace, Tasnim News Agency reported, citing an IRGC statement.
