Petrol would've cost ₹10 more if we hadn't taken ₹1-lakh-crore hit: Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government is taking a hit of ₹1 lakh crore per annum due to the ₹10 cut in excise duty it undertook in March. "We've cut ₹1 lakh crore to reduce the burden of fuel price hike on consumers for 76 days," Sitharaman said. Petrol would've cost ₹10/litre more had we not cut the duty.

TN CM Vijay announces farm loan waivers, extended screenings of movies

Tamil Nadu CM Vijay announced waiver of cooperative bank crop loans of up to ₹50,000 availed by marginal farmers and up to ₹5,000 to large farmers. Iran orders restoration of internet after 87-day blackout cut nation off from global web: Report

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian ordered the restoration of international internet access across Iran after 87 days of severe restrictions that left much of the country cut off from the global web, reports stated. Sri Lanka makes tourist visa free for India

Sri Lanka has said that nationals of 40 countries, including India, are now eligible to obtain free tourist visa (Electronic Travel Authorisation) for a 30-day period. The other countries include Australia, Canada, China, Pakistan, US, UK, Nepal, Israel and Thailand among others. Applicants who wish to stay beyond 30 days can apply for an extension after paying a fee.
