UDF govt announces free bus travel for women in 1st cabinet meet

Kerala's Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government announced free bus travel for women on state-run Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses in its first cabinet meeting. Scheme will be rolled out from June 15. It also approved a ₹3,000 monthly hike in honorarium of ASHA workers and monthly increase of ₹1,000 each for Anganwadi workers, helpers, and school's cooking staff.

Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper launching July-August

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Vande Bharat Sleeper service between Bengaluru and Mumbai will launch in July or August. The overnight train will depart evenings from both cities, arriving the next morning. A maintenance depot will be built at Thanisandra for ₹270 crore. Karnataka currently runs 12 pairs of Vande Bharat trains.

India’s first-ever privately built military aircraft, the Airbus C-295 transport plane, can transport troops, carry cargo, serve as an air ambulance, conduct disaster relief operations and perform special missions. The aircraft can accommodate 71 troops and up to 50 paratroopers and can take off from unprepared and short runways. The aircraft is a part of a ₹21,935-crore programme.
