SoftBank profit more than triples on gains from OpenAI investment

SoftBank said its net profit more than tripled to 1.83 trillion yen ($11.60 billion) in the January-March quarter of 2026. The rise in net profit came on the back of gains in the value of its investment in ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, with its cumulative gains on the investment ​totalling $45 billion. It was SoftBank's fifth consecutive quarterly profit.

CBSE makes 3-language formula mandatory for Class IX, no Board exam for 3rd language in Class X

The CBSE has made studying three languages (R1, R2 and R3) compulsory for students from Class IX beginning July 1, 2026. It has, however, exempted R3 from the Class X Board examinations when the current batch moves to Class X next year. At least two of the languages have to be native Indian languages.

H'yana allows CBI to probe IAS officers in ₹590-cr IDFC Bank fraud

Haryana government has permitted the CBI to investigate the alleged role of several IAS officers in the ₹590-crore IDFC First Bank fraud case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
