Italy suspends defence agreement with Israel

Italy has suspended its defence agreement with Israel, which involves exchange of military equipment and technology research, PM Giorgia Meloni said. Approved by Israel in 2006, it is reviewed every five years. Tensions between the two countries rose over past week after Italian government accused Israeli forces of firing warning shots at Italian UN peacekeepers' convoy in Lebanon.

Rare albino humpback whale seen jumping out of water

A video showing Siale, a rare albino humpback whale, humping out of the water has surfaced online. As per NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, the female whale is only the second true albino humpback documented in the East Coast population. "Blessed to have witnessed this side of the beauty of Earth," a user said. "Simply beautiful," another said.

LIC announces 1st-ever 1:1 bonus issue

India's largest insurer, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), has announced its first-ever bonus issue in a 1:1 ratio. Under this, shareholders will receive one bonus equity share of ₹10 face value for every share held. The issue is backed by ₹6,325 crore from reserves and surplus. The record date for the bonus issue has not been announced yet.

Which states/UTs recorded the highest and lowest inflation rates in March?

Telangana reported the highest inflation rate among Indian states/UTs at 5.83% for March this year. The second and third highest inflation rates were reported by Sikkim and Puducherry at 4.28% and 4.18%. The lowest inflation rate was reported by Mizoram at 0.66%. It was followed by Ladakh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi-NCR and Manipur at 0.94%, 1.35%, 1.86% and 1.96%, respectively.

'Lady captain' HR manager at TCS office befriended women, trained them to offer namaz

A third Iran-linked tanker crossed the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Gulf after the US imposed a blockade on vessels in the strait, according to shipping data. 2 arrested, Mercedes seized over Army Brigadier & son's assault in Delhi

Massive explosion at Vedanta Power Plant in Chhattisgarh, 9 dead

At least nine people have died and 15 others have been injured in a major explosion at Vedanta Power Plant in Chhattisgarh's Sakti district, SP Praful Thakur said. The injured have been taken to hospital in Raigarh, Thakur added. "We are in the process of ascertaining details, and a thorough investigation has been initiated," a spokesperson for the plant said.

Newly discovered spider named after Pink Floyd

Researchers from South America have discovered a new species of crevice-weaving spider, naming it Pikelinia floydmuraria. The newly identified spider measures just 3 to 4 millimetres in length and can prey on animals up to six times its size. The name "floydmuraria" comes from "Floyd", referring to the band Pink Floyd, and "muraria", meaning wall in Latin.
