Russian agency seizes Wagner Group's shadow empire in Africa: Probe

Russia's SVR foreign intelligence agency has taken over mercenary group Wagner's influence operations in Africa after death of its founder, Yevgeny Prigozhin, according to a new probe. Russia has sought to replace Wagner in Africa and coordinate security operations through umbrella group known as Africa Corps after Prigozhin died in a 2023 plane crash following short-lived mutiny against Moscow.

Giant tortoises return to Galápagos islands after 180 years

Floreana lineage giant tortoises have been reintroduced to Floreana island in the Galápagos archipelago for the first time in around 180 years. The subspecies was considered to have gone extinct, however, a relic population of giant tortoises were later discovered on Wolf volcano. Following a focused breeding program, 158 young hybrid tortoises have now been released on their ancestral island.

Virus outbreak kills 72 tigers in Thailand, popular tourist attraction closed

A virus outbreak in northern Thailand has killed 72 captive tigers at Tiger Kingdom facilities in Chiang Mai province, prompting a temporary closure of Mae Rim and Mae Taeng parks. Laboratory tests detected canine distemper virus with Mycoplasma bacterial infection in carcasses, which don't spread to humans. The remaining tigers have been relocated while the enclosures are being disinfected.

Bangladesh restores visa services in India after two months freeze

Services were suspended since late December 2025 due to security concerns and protests near diplomatic premises. K'taka BJP MLA Lamani caught red-handed taking ₹5 lakh bribe, held

Chandru Lamani, BJP MLA from Karnataka's Shirahatti Assembly constituency, has been arrested by Lokayukta after he was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5 lakh. The amount was part of an alleged total demand of ₹11 lakh. According to Lokayukta officials, bribe was allegedly sought to facilitate approvals related to a minor irrigation department project in Gadag district.

IEDs found in Punjab, Kashmir amid alert over possible Lashkar attack in Delhi

An improvised explosive device (IED) was defused in Punjab’s Amritsar as agencies warned of a possible Lashkar-e-Taiba attack in Delhi. Indian parents forgive driver after son’s death in accident in UAE

India-Brazil trade will be $30 billion by 2030: Brazil Prez
