Sydney shooter's Hyderabad-based family had cut ties with him for marrying Christian woman

The Hyderabad-based family of Sajid Akram, the main shooter behind terror attack at Sydney's Bondi Beach, severed ties with him decades ago after he married a Christian woman. His brother told The News Minute that Sajid hadn't even enquired about their ailing mother. Telangana Police said Sajid made around six visits to India in 27 years, primarily for property matters.

English all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who initially went unsold in the IPL 2026 mini auction in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, was later bought by SRH for ₹13 crore. Scientists create world's smallest programmable robots, share pics

The world's smallest fully programmable and autonomous robots have been created by researchers from Universities of Pennsylvania and Michigan. "These microscopic swimming machines can independently sense and respond to their surroundings," researchers stated. The robot, which is barely visible to the naked eye with a measurement of 0.2 by 0.3 by 0.05 millimetres, costs a penny per unit.

Rupee jumps most in 7 months after RBI intervention

Heavy intervention by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) helped the Indian rupee stage its strongest intraday recovery in seven months on Wednesday. RBI intervened aggressively in currency markets on Wednesday, selling dollars to prop up the rupee, bankers said. Railways has revised timing for preparing reservation charts. For trains departing between 5:01 am and 2 pm, the first chart will be prepared by 8 pm on previous day. For trains departing between 2:01 pm and 11:59 pm and those departing between midnight (12 am) and 5 am, the reservation chart will be prepared at least 10 hours in advance.

Bill to allow 100% FDI in insurance passed by Parliament

The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday passed the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Bill, 2025, raising the FDI limit in the insurance sector to 100%. The Bill was cleared by a voice vote in the upper house, a day after its passage in Lok Sabha. Earlier, foreign direct investment in insurance was capped at 74%.
