Sydney attacker Sajid Akram had Indian passport, confirms police

Sydney attacker Sajid Akram was originally from Hyderabad, India and migrated to Australia in search of employment in 1998, according to Telangana Police. He subsequently married a European-origin woman. "Sajid...carries Indian passport as on date," police added. Factors that led to the radicalisation of Sajid Akram and his son, Naveed appear to have no connection with India, police further said.

Brown University gunman still at large, person of interest released

Three days after the shooting at Brown University, the search for the gunman continues. The person of interest, Benjamin Erickson who was detained for the crime, has been released after being "effectively cleared" by the authorities. Rhode Island State Attorney General Peter Neronha said, "The evidence...made clear that this wasn't someone who should be detained in connection with this case."

Govt to link PF accounts with UPI, allow 75% withdrawal

Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has announced that from March 2026 onwards, the option to withdraw 75% of the provident fund (PF) amount will be extended, allowing employees to withdraw the amount using ATMs or UPI. "We saw that people have to fill out tens of forms to withdraw PF money...We'll link PF accounts with UPI," Mandaviya said.
