India designates 2 more Ramsar sites, pics released

India has added two new Ramsar Sites, namely Siliserh Lake in Alwar, Rajasthan and Kopra Jalashay near Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, designated under the Ramsar Convention, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said. "I congratulate the people of both Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh for this momentous achievement," he added. This takes India's tally of Ramsar Sites from 94 to 96.

Cabinet clears SHANTI Bill to allow private players in nuclear sector

The Union Cabinet has approved the Atomic Energy Bill, 2025, titled SHANTI – Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India, to allow private players in the nuclear sector. The Bill proposes allowing private players a minority stake of up to 49% in the upcoming nuclear power projects. It is expected to be tabled in Parliament next week.

Pakistan & Binance to create $2-bn crypto assets, raising concern for crypto industry

Pakistan and Binance signed an MoU to work on 'tokenisation', a process to create digital assets, worth up to $2 billion (₹18,000 crore). Stage-IV of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been imposed in Delhi NCR after AQI slipped into the 'severe' category on Saturday. This will trigger emergency measures to prevent further deterioration, including barring the entry of non-essential and non-CNG/electric/BS-VI diesel trucks into the region. HC allows felling of 45,000 trees for road project in Maharashtra

The Bombay High Court has granted permission to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to fell around 45,000 mangroves for the 26.3-km-long Versova–Bhayandar Development Plan (DP) road project in Maharashtra. However, the court decided to keep the case pending for 10 years, during which the BMC will be required to submit annual reports on the status of compensatory mangrove plantations.
