Geography is one of the reasons for northern cities being far more polluted than southern. Cities like Delhi, Varanasi lie within Indo-Gangetic Plain, a region landlocked and boxed in by Himalayas. This bowl-shaped terrain traps pollutants, preventing them from dispersing. The situation worsens in winter due to weather phenomenon called winter inversion where denser air settles near ground.

How many F1 races have been held in India?

India hosted three Formula 1 races, known as the Indian Grand Prix, from 2011 to 2013. The events were held at Greater Noida's Buddh International Circuit, which features a 5.125 km track designed by German racetrack designer Hermann Tilke. Notably, former German driver Sebastian Vettel won all three races for Red Bull. The race was discontinued from the 2014 season.

World’s most expensive satellite NISAR sends first pics of India

NISAR, the world's most expensive radar satellite, has begun operations by capturing a detailed image of India's Godavari River Delta. The S-Band radar's high-definition images revealed mangroves, fields, arecanut crops and aquaculture ponds. ISRO released the image as the mission marked 100 days in orbit. NISAR was launched on July 30, 2025, aboard GSLV-F16 from Sriharikota.

IndiGo announced the completion of a mandatory Airbus software upgrade across its entire A320 fleet, confirming that all 200 aircraft are now fully compliant with the latest safety requirements. Gunman opens fire on multiple people in US' California

A mass shooting incident in Stockton, California, US has left several people injured. "Several victims have been transported to local hospital," San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said in a post on X. According to Scanner Radio reports, at least 10 people were injured, including a 9-year-old, 12-year-old, and 23-year-old. The shooter opened fire and fled the scene.

Dr Shaheen wanted to build women-led terror network for attack: Report

Russian launch pad damaged during Soyuz liftoff to Space Station
