India has been declared a major power in independent think tank Lowy Institute's Asia Power Index 2025. The Index measures resources and influence to rank the relative power of states in Asia. The Index defines power as the capacity of a state to direct or influence the behaviour of other states, non-state actors, and the course of international events.

128 dead in Hong Kong fire

The death toll from the fire at a residential complex in Hong Kong has risen to 128 and is expected to rise further as hundreds are still missing. The cause of the fire, which engulfed seven high-rise residential towers, has not been determined. IIT-Madras' Prof Mahesh Panchagnula explained that the practice of sprinkling water on hot tawa before pouring dosa batter is linked to Leidenfrost Effect, identified in Germany in 18th century. When tawa isn't hot enough, the water evaporates slowly, but at the right temperature, water glides and floats on thin vapour layer. This prevents dosa from sticking and makes it crisp.

Kashmir sees coldest November since 2007, Srinagar records -4.5°C

A sharp temperature plunge has made this November the coldest in 18 years across Kashmir, officials said. Srinagar recorded minus 4.5°C, its lowest this season, over four degrees below normal, officials added. Konibal in Pulwama fell to minus 6°C, while Pahalgam hit minus 5.5°C. Officials said the valley last saw such severe November cold in 2007.

India's GDP grows 8.2% in Q2 of FY 2025-26, beats estimates

The National Statistics Office has stated that India's real GDP has been estimated to grow by 8.2% in Q2 of FY 2025-26 against the growth rate of 5.6% during Q2 of FY 2024-25. This is the fastest growth in India's economy in six quarters. Analysts had estimated the Q2 economic growth in the range of 7% to 7.5%.

Who is Bandhu Sekhon, linked to Kapil's Canada cafe shooting case?

Delhi police have arrested Canada-based gangster Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon in connection with the shooting at comedian Kapil Sharma’s Kap's Cafe.
